Recently, Lei Jun highlighted safety issues at the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference, stating that Xiaomi placed great importance on safety from the very beginning of its car manufacturing efforts. He emphasized that without safety, everything else is zero. Without safety, all intelligent performance and innovative design lose their meaning. In the past year, Xiaomi proposed the concept of making the safest car in its class and has completed a great deal of work in this area. Lei Jun introduced that within Xiaomi, a car safety research center was established, and an independent R&D institution was set up to investigate end-to-end issues independently and feed the findings back to the R&D system. A comprehensive safety department was also established to design full-vehicle safety systems, with safety experts coordinating overall safety matters, while reinforcing the leadership role of the car safety committee. Additionally, a car safety advisory board was also established. To date, the internal team size at Xiaomi for safety-related matters has exceeded 3,000 people. In product validation, Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi continues to conduct real-world tests, including extensive road tests and endurance challenges such as a 24-hour test and a range test from Beijing to Shanghai. This year, Xiaomi has also conducted multiple disassembly live streams to showcase the internal structure, manufacturing processes, and safety designs of the vehicles to users. Lei Jun also introduced Xiaomi's core strategy of "the all-encompassing ecosystem of people, cars, and homes." To enhance ecosystem experiences, Xiaomi has continuously increased R&D investments in chips, operating systems, AI, and embodied intelligence. In the past five years, Xiaomi has invested over 105.5 billion yuan in core technology research and development, and it is expected to exceed 200 billion yuan in the next five years.
