● Competing Models
As a mid-to-large SUV, the Xingtan 5X from BAIC Off-Road targets the current popular urban commuting and light off-road camping track. Competing models in this segment include the Fangchengbao Ti 7, iCAR V27, and GAC Trumpchi Yue 7.
Drawing on BAIC Off-Road's deep roots in the off-road segment, the new vehicle continues the classic hardbox outline while offering two exterior designs for different powertrains, catering to a wider range of aesthetic preferences and expanding its target user base.
In terms of competition, the Ti 7 from Fangchengbao, which entered the market earlier and has a mature electrification and DiSus-C suspension system, is already the market benchmark in this niche, with stable user feedback and market recognition. Therefore, it is also the most direct and competitive competitor for the Xingtan 5X.
These models compete in this segment with different positioning, making the choices for the 200,000 RMB mid-to-large SUV segment more finely segmented.
● Editor's Commentary
Drawing on BAIC Off-Road's long-standing experience in the off-road sector, it deeply understands the diverse vehicle needs of today's family users, who wish to enjoy both urban comfort commuting and outdoor camping light off-road travel. In line with the development trends of the new energy mid-to-large SUV segment, the Xingtan 5X has successfully implemented off-road capabilities, high-end driving assistance, and new energy powertrains in a widespread manner.
The vehicle is equipped with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 Pro high-end driving solution, extending full-scenario navigation assistance to off-road non-paved roads, breaking the barrier of high-end driving assistance being exclusive to high-end models.
It offers three powertrains: petrol, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric, with the petrol version providing stable and reliable off-road travel experiences for users accustomed to traditional powertrains and without charging conditions. The plug-in hybrid version balances long-range pure electric commuting and long-distance worry-free range, while the pure electric version focuses on low operating costs, balancing power performance, range, and economy.
Additionally, the vehicle offers two exterior designs for different powertrains, catering to a wider range of aesthetic preferences and expanding its target user base. It also features a spacious family space, comprehensive all-terrain driving capabilities, and a strong core product competitiveness in terms of off-road capabilities, intelligent driving, power, and design space.
In terms of pricing, the pre-sale price range is reasonable, with clear configuration gradients between different versions, forming a flexible competitive strategy.
With the product foundation of a mid-to-large SUV, it has the confidence to directly compete with other popular light off-road models in this segment; at the same time, thanks to its affordable entry point, it can attract users from traditional SUVs and city electric SUVs, bringing professional off-road brand products to more ordinary families, achieving cross-layered dual breakout.
