2026 Paris Motor Show: Peugeot RCZ Vision Concept Launches with Line-Control Braking and Line-Control Steering Systems
Recently, the Peugeot RCZ Vision concept car made its debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, featuring the "Lion Spirit Future" design language. It comes equipped with the Peugeot Hypersquare steering wheel and the all-new Peugeot i-Cockpit cabin, as a fully electric vehicle based on the next-generation Peugeot STLA One modular platform, which features a 1000V high-voltage platform architecture.
Visually, the RCZ Vision concept car is a continuation of the RCZ two-door coupe, introducing the "Lion Spirit Future" design language, giving the overall appearance a poised and ready-to-act posture. The car is slightly inclined forward, as if it is ready to leap at any moment.
The new model features Peugeot’s latest lighting identifier, reinterpreting the classic three-light signal.
Above the three horizontal light strips, ultra-thin lens LED headlights simulate the gaze of a lion.
The illuminated brand logo, the large-area perforated bumper with the RCZ logo, and the large-sized grille featuring the RCZ micro-engraving all work together to create a highly impactful front end.
The three horizontal light strips at the rear integrate all lighting functions, achieving an integrated design and maintaining a smooth profile.
The active rear spoiler continues the design philosophy of the first-generation RCZ: hidden in static, automatically rising during motion to optimize aerodynamics.
The bubble roof pays homage to the first-generation RCZ, with the glass bubble design on the RCZ Vision concept car further upgraded, extending from the front hood to the rear, reinforcing the classic double arch roof profile, thereby expanding the headroom for the rear seat.
The overall design is focused on lightweight and aerodynamic optimization.
In terms of the interior, the RCZ Vision concept car previews the next-generation Peugeot i-Cockpit cabin, combining the Hypersquare rectangular steering wheel with a transparent Micro LED screen, directly projecting the required information for driving into the driver's field of vision and supporting high customization.
The vertical-mounted infotainment screen is slightly inclined towards the driver, balancing ergonomics and controlling the car’s entertainment and navigation settings.
The Hypersquare rectangular steering wheel brings the driver closer to the road, featuring unique ergonomic design to keep the driver focused on driving: main functions are integrated into the four rings of the steering wheel, which can be operated with fingertips without leaving the steering device.
The Hypersquare rectangular steering wheel used in the RCZ Vision concept car will be the production version, set to be implemented in the next-generation Peugeot E-208.
The Hypersquare steering wheel is paired with electric steering, offering a more instinctive and precise driving experience.
The steering mechanism is no longer connected to the wheels by mechanical rods, allowing the steering to be fully electronicized.
This system surpasses traditional assist steering and can dynamically adjust the steering ratio based on vehicle speed.
The RCZ Vision concept car features a four-seat cabin, with rear entry and exit being convenient, allowing two adults to comfortably sit, and the rear seatback can be folded, expanding storage capacity.
In terms of power, the RCZ Vision concept car features advanced technologies developed for Peugeot’s next-generation production vehicles. The vehicle is based on the Peugeot STLA One modular platform, with solid-state batteries jointly developed by Peugeot and Factorial Energy. Higher energy density allows more energy to be stored in a smaller volume, improving range and reducing battery pack size.
The 1000V high-voltage electrical architecture is paired with the vehicle, providing a maximum power output of 507 horsepower and a range of up to 600 kilometers. Thanks to the ultra-thin battery pack of only 110 millimeters, the aerodynamic optimization, weight reduction design, and electric architecture work together to achieve a WLTP combined cycle power consumption of 11.5 kWh/100 km (data pending certification).
The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes.
The RCZ Vision concept car also offers electric braking.
Following the line control steering, the hydraulic lines between the pedal and brake are replaced by electronic control, allowing for more refined force regulation and seamless energy recovery, balancing efficiency and driving feel.
The RCZ Vision concept car supports L2++ level autonomous driving, enabling the hand-off function for city and highway driving, making long-distance travel more comfortable, without sacrificing driving enjoyment.
