Some people say that life always has to go to southern Xinjiang once. Go to the Pamir Plateau to touch the continuous snow peaks, encounter the clear and blue water in Baisha Lake, meet the grassland night breeze at the Golden Grass Beach, and climb over thousands of ravines along the Panlong Ancient Road. This time, I will drive the Great Wall H10, starting from Kashita County, Xinjiang, crossing the Panlong Ancient Road, passing Bandir Blue Lake, and unlocking the true strength of this large six-seat square box SUV in the scenery of the plateau. As a new species of square box newly launched by the Great Wall, the Great Wall H10 relies on the exclusive Fangding aesthetic design, and the hard and square body outline has its own recognition. I have experienced the space, interior and configuration of this car statically before, and this long-distance plateau test drive, we focused on mountain road control, daily comfort, high-end assisted driving, and four-wheel drive off-road performance, immersing myself in this SUV that takes into account both home and off-road properties, and whether it can adapt to the needs of all scenarios. The core section of this test drive is mainly Panlong Ancient Road, with dense curves. The Great Wall H10 is positioned as a medium-sized and large SUV. The 6-seater version has a body length of 5299mm, a width of nearly 2 meters, and a quality of more than 2.5 tons. The huge body size in the narrow and curved Panlong Ancient Road should have been cramped and bulky, but the actual driving experience exceeded expectations. The suspension can sense the pavement fluctuations in real time through the pre-sighting system, dynamically adjust the softness and hardness of the suspension, filter the road bumps, the filter vibration in the car is delicate, and the passengers can hardly feel the extra vibration. For non-paved roads, the suspension still retains sufficient toughness. The suspension is soft in the comfort mode, which can soften the road bumps and ensure the texture of the car. Although the vehicle is not equipped with an air spring to adjust the height of the body, the minimum ground clearance of 220mm, with excellent suspension adjustment, is sufficient for most home road conditions and light off-road scenarios. Intelligent assisted driving is the core plus of contemporary home SUVs. The whole system of Great Wall H10 is equipped with lidar, and the whole vehicle is equipped with 27 high-precision sensors. This mature intelligent driving system has been widely used in tanks and many main models of Haver, and its practicality has been verified by the market. However, in the test drive, I also found a short board of details: in the face of unconventional traffic signs such as temporary traffic lights, the system could not accurately identify and did not actively slow down. In addition, in the low-speed driving bend section of Panlong Ancient Road, the assisted driving system is conservative in automatic deceleration to ensure safety, and the driving efficiency is average. If subsequent versions can upgrade the ridesharing function, allowing the driver to slightly interfere with the steering and throttle without exiting the assisted driving system, the driving experience in low-speed corners will be more perfect. Highland driving, power attenuation is the common problem of fuel vehicles. The Pamir Plateau at an altitude of 4,200 meters, oxygen is thin, and the power of traditional fuel vehicles will shrink significantly. The second-generation Hi4 plug-in hybrid power system equipped with the Great Wall H10 perfectly solves this pain point.
