BMW 5 Series Standard-Wheelbase Version Set to Leave the Chinese Market; Whether the New Generation Keeps It Is Still Unknown
Recently, we learned from related channels that the current standard-wheelbase BMW 5 Series is set to stop importing into the Chinese market. The final batch of quotas has been distributed at the port in September, after which no new quotas will be available.
For reference, the car's suggested retail price range is 368,000-525,900 RMB.
In conjunction with previous reports, the mid-cycle revised BMW 5 Series is expected to be officially released in 2027. Whether it will introduce the standard-wheelbase version into the domestic market remains to be confirmed by the official.
As a recap, the current standard-wheelbase BMW 5 Series is 5060/1900/1515mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2995mm.
The powertrain uses a 2.0T engine, with a maximum power of 140kW for the lower-power version and 190kW for the higher-power version, matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The new BMW 5 Series will undergo significant upgrades. The exterior will adopt the Neue Klasse new-generation design style, while the interior will feature the latest BMW Panoramic Vision display and the new-generation BMW Operating System X, among others.
In terms of powertrain, it will offer gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid versions globally, as well as an all-electric i5 offering around 1,000 km of range. It will also continue to offer the estate version and the high-performance M5 model.
