The assessment has not been done! Musk's $158.3 billion salary is actually 0!

On April 30, local time, Tesla disclosed Musk's total remuneration in 2025, up to $158.4 billion (about 1.08 trillion yuan) in regulatory filings. However, as Tesla has not yet reached any market capitalization and operational assessment targets, Musk's actual on-boarding compensation for the year was zero. The total remuneration announced in this announcement is calculated on the premise that all performance goals are achieved. Some $132 billion of this corresponds to long-term equity incentives approved last year. In addition, more than $26 billion belonged to a mid-term award passed by Tesla's board of directors last August. Musk voluntarily waived the midterm award in April. In the filing, Tesla highlighted the risk that “there may be significant or even fundamental differences between the total amount of Musk's compensation announced by the company on an annual basis and its actual realized value, which is only a theoretical value under the accounting caliber, and does not represent real benefits.” In November 2025, Tesla's shareholders approved a 10-year compensation plan for Musk. According to the plan, after completing the milestones, Musk is expected to receive Tesla stock with a total market value of nearly $1 trillion as a reward. As of now, Musk himself and Tesla officials have not made additional comments on the “zero compensation” event in 2025.
