On April 1st, sales data for March from new domestic emerging automakers and traditional automakers' new brands were gradually released. Affected by the adjustment of the new energy vehicle purchase tax policy at the beginning of the year, the overall sales performance of new energy vehicle models has fallen short of expectations so far this year, while the fuel vehicle market has witnessed a temporary recovery. However, in March, with a substantial increase in domestic fuel prices, coupled with the long-term cost advantages of new energy vehicle models in terms of usage, consumer attention and purchasing interest were rekindled, leading to a gradual resurgence in market enthusiasm. As sales figures from various brands were unveiled, multiple companies achieved leapfrog growth.
In March, Leapmotor delivered an impressive performance, with monthly sales surpassing 50,000 units, marking significant year-on-year and month-on-month growth compared to February and the same period last year. Among them, the Leapmotor A10 quickly gained popularity after its launch on March 26th, with advance orders exceeding 10,000 units in a short period. Li Auto also performed outstandingly, delivering 41,053 new vehicles in March, a notable increase from February. The Li Auto i6 model alone contributed over 24,000 units to the sales tally. GAC Aion's Hyper BU maintained steady performance, with March sales reaching 38,268 units, and the Aion i60 model surpassing 10,000 units in sales.
NIO stood out with the most remarkable year-on-year growth in March, selling 22,490 units, a staggering 120.1% increase year-on-year. The all-new NIO ES8 continued to serve as the sales mainstay, highly favored by family users. The Lexiao brand also delivered impressive results, with March sales reaching 6,877 units, a 42.7% year-on-year increase. Zeekr performed even more eye-catchingly, delivering 29,318 units in March, a 90% year-on-year increase, with the Zeekr 9X model alone exceeding 10,000 units in deliveries. Xiaomi Auto, which has garnered significant market attention, delivered over 20,000 units in March, with the new Xiaomi SU7 model breaking through 7,000 units in deliveries within less than 10 days of its launch.
Looking ahead to April, the highly anticipated 2026 Beijing Auto Show is set to kick off, with numerous brand-new models making their debut. Coupled with the continued influence of rising fuel prices driving consumers towards new energy vehicle models, it is expected that the domestic new energy vehicle market will accelerate its recovery in April, with overall sales experiencing further growth.
