To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the R Series Volkswagen Makes Golf R 24h 2027 Nürburgring 24 Hours
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the R series, Volkswagen announced that it will create a track-specific model - the Golf R (parameter | inquiry) 24h, and will compete in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race in 2027. Developed jointly by Volkswagen and Max Kruse Racing, it has been officially called “the most stunning golf R to date” and is based on the mass-produced version of the golf R, but the exterior has been completely remodeled and completely out of the frame of the civil version of the golf R. From the official details, this track version of the car looks extremely aggressive, with a wide body with an exaggerated aerodynamic kit, including a large front lip, a ventilated hood, a wide eyebrow, a towering tail and a similar specification diffuser. The body posture is significantly lower than the street car, and it is also equipped with professional racing hubs and smooth head tires. It is worth noting that it is not electrified, and the hood vents and side exhausts indicate that it is equipped with an internal combustion engine that requires additional cooling. At present, this golf R 24h is still in the showcase stage, but the development of the actual car for the battle of "Green Hell" has begun. Officials have made it clear that the car is only a race car and there is no plan for a civilian version. However, Volkswagen has previously hinted at the possibility of a more track-oriented version, and whether it will spawn a golf R Clubsport in the future is still worth looking forward to. It is worth mentioning that compared to the predecessor layout of the previous generation of golf GTI Clubsport 24h, the most core upgrade of the golf R 24h is to change the all-wheel drive system, which is consistent with the drive form of the production version of the golf R. Detailed performance parameters have not been officially announced, but it is expected to be equipped with the upgraded 2.0T four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which can output 256 kilowatts of power and supports E20 bioethanol fuel.
