China's first "billion-level car company" was born! SAIC Group Officially Delivers 100 Millionth New Vehicle

On May 28, the SAIC Group's "100 millionth customer delivery ceremony" was officially held, and the first automobile group in the history of China's automobile industry with a cumulative production and sales volume exceeding 100 million vehicles was born in Shanghai. It is worth mentioning that the 100 millionth model delivered is a Zhi Ji LS9 (parameter | inquiry) Hyper. Looking back on history, in 1955, the Shanghai Internal Combustion Engine Parts Manufacturing Company was established, and the Shanghai automobile industry officially started; in 1958, the first "Phoenix" sedan was rolled off the line, achieving a breakthrough in the manufacturing of Shanghai sedans. In the 1980s, SAIC introduced Santana models through joint ventures to promote the large-scale development of China's sedan industry; in 1997, Shanghai GM was established, setting a 23-month "Shanghai speed" for the establishment of the factory; in 2006, the Roewe brand was born, and in 2016, the world's first Internet car, the Roewe RX5, was launched; in 2020, Zhiji Automobile was established, and high-end intelligent electric racetracks were laid out. The model delivered this time is the LS9 Hyper, which is the top version of the LS9. The car is equipped with a fully controlled four-wheel steering system, a 520-line ultra-vision lidar (L3 level perception), a Nvidia Thor chip, and a Momenta smart driving model. It is based on a global 800V high-voltage platform, equipped with a stellar super range extension system, and the first gold standard hurricane three motors. According to the declaration information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the peak power of the motor reaches 160kW, 195kW (rear left) and 195kW (rear right), respectively, and the 0-100km/h acceleration time of the car comes to the 3-second club. The owner of LS9 Hyper 001 is Momenta CEO Cao Xudong. According to official data, in January-April 2026, SAIC's cumulative sales reached 1.32 million units, ranking first among Chinese automobile companies in sales for four consecutive months; of which 910,000 units were sold by independent brands, accounting for nearly 70%; 412,000 units were sold by new energy models; 459,000 units were sold in overseas markets, an increase of 50.2% year-on-year. Products and services have covered more than 170 countries and regions around the world. As a representative of Chinese automobiles going overseas, SAIC currently has more than 100 parts bases and more than 3,000 dealer networks overseas, and the MG brand has ranked first in the European sales of Chinese brands for 11 consecutive years, with cumulative overseas sales exceeding 7 million units.
