On April 15, the new Volvo EX90 officially opened for pre-sale in China. The model is available in 2 variants, with a pre-sale price range of 539,900 – 609,900 RMB. Purchase benefits include:

As a flagship pure electric SUV, the new Volvo EX90 is built on the SPA2 native premium pure electric architecture. Its torsional rigidity is 50%–60% higher than the SPA1 platform, and it features an upgraded all-aluminum chassis. Evolving from a 400V hybrid platform to a full-domain 800V high-voltage architecture, it delivers longer range and faster charging. Equipped with Volvo’s self-developed third-generation electric drive system and BMS, it offers stronger performance and higher drive efficiency. In terms of intelligence, it has upgraded from traditional distributed domain control to a centralized E/E architecture, enabling stronger computing power, faster coordination and more instant response.

Exterior
The new Volvo EX90 retains a closed-off front grille design, accented with the brand’s classic logo. It is equipped with Thor’s Hammer LED headlamps with 1.3-megapixel high definition, vertical LED daytime running lights on both sides of the front bumper, and an active grille air intake in the center.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5037 × 1964 × 1747 (1942) mm, with a wheelbase of 2985 mm. Its side profile draws inspiration from yachts, paired with hidden door handles and low-drag wheels, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.29 Cd. The vehicle also features Brembo high-performance calipers, power suction doors and double-layer acoustic glass. At the rear, it is fitted with Viking Axe taillights and vertical LED light strips on both sides of the rear window, enhancing visual recognition when illuminated.
Interior
The cabin uses light-transmitting solid wood trim made of FSC-certified natural wood with up to 12 layers of craftsmanship, following a driver-centric design concept. The interior is equipped with a 9-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch HUD head-up display, and a 14.5-inch portrait floating central touchscreen powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, with an AI large-model voice assistant supporting always-on wake-free interaction.
The EX90 comes standard with a dimmable panoramic sunroof that electrically adjusts transparency, blocking 99.5% of ultraviolet rays. The interior uses eco-friendly materials including chrome-free tanned Nappa leather and custom wool blends. It adopts a 7-seat layout. The front Nappa leather seats support heating, ventilation and massage functions, while rear seats offer heating. The vehicle provides a 46L front trunk, a 25-speaker 7.1.4 panoramic sound system by Bowers & Wilkins with Dolby Atmos, and CleanZone Nordic clean cabin technology. Cargo space ranges from 384L to 2135L, with an additional 46L frunk.
For advanced driver assistance, the new EX90 is equipped with the Pilot Assist system, supporting curve assist and lane change assist. It adopts a pure vision sensing solution powered by 1 NVIDIA Orin chip with computing power of 254 TOPS.

Powertrain
Upgraded to a full-domain 800V high-voltage platform and Volvo’s self-developed third-generation electric drive system, which integrates the inverter, motor and transmission into one unit, significantly boosting power output and optimizing energy efficiency.
The vehicle is equipped with dual motors:
Plus version: front motor 130 kW, rear motor 200 kW; 0–100 km/h in 5.5 seconds
Ultra version: front motor 220 kW, rear motor 280 kW; 0–100 km/h in 4.2 seconds
Both variants use a 106 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, with CLTC pure electric range of 756 km and 737 km respectively. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 22 minutes.
The Ultra model features a 4C adaptive chassis with 500 high-frequency scans per second for real-time damping adjustment, supported by intelligent dual-chamber air suspension + CCD variable damping shock absorbers.
