Manual stop regression? Ferrari will release the V12 manual limited model on July 4th
Recently, according to relevant channels, Ferrari will release a blockbuster new car combining vintage and cutting-edge technology on July 4, equipped with the brand's latest transmission patent - a new wire-controlled six-speed manual transmission. Rumor has it that the limited edition model, or to be based on the Ferrari 12 Cilindri, is expected to be named the 12Cilindri MM, offering both hardtop and convertible body forms. Retrospectively, the last Ferrari factory-equipped manual transmission in production was the Ferrari 599 GTB, which was discontinued in 2012. Since then, the brand has switched between dual-clutch automatic transmissions. The rumor is that a manual transmission model will be launched because Ferrari recently announced a transmission patent. This new drivetrain adopts a Shift-by-wire architecture, and the design logic is compared to the multi-mode manual transmission of the Koenigsegg CC850 to achieve "one set of two driving experiences". This patented gearshift mechanism retains the iconic door-type six-speed gear lever of a vintage sports car, and the internal spring roller structure accurately reproduces the shifting damping and suction sensation of a traditional manual transmission, with a clutch pedal, perfectly restoring pure mechanical driving pleasure. At the same time, the stop lever area integrates R/N/D/M physical function buttons, and the automatic mode is switched with one key, so urban commuters do not need to step on the clutch frequently. On the technical side, the gearshift lever relies on the dual-axis active structure with the bottom electric control latch to transmit the gearshift signal, without the need for complex mechanical links, and the complete set of modules supports the direct matching of Ferrari's existing dual-clutch assembly, which belongs to the modular general design. In the future, there will be opportunities to mount other models of the brand. According to reports, this manual limited model may be based on the 12Cilindri and named 12Cilindri MM, continuing the original 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine, with a maximum output of 830 horsepower and a red line speed of 9500 rpm, retaining the iconic sound wave and linear power output of the self-priming V12. The new car will be available in the Coupe hardtop and Aperta convertible body shapes, positioning the top limited collection models, not mass production, and open only to senior brand collectors and top customers.
