On April 15, we learned from official sources at XPeng Motors that its all-new midsize-to-large SUV, the XPeng GX, has officially debuted and opened for pre-sale. A total of two trim levels will be offered, both with a pre-sale price of 399,800 RMB. Meanwhile, the model will be available with two powertrain options: pure electric and extended-range. For detailed pre-sale pricing of the new vehicle, please refer to the figure/table below.
Highlights of the New Model
Exterior
The XPeng GX features an all-new design language. Its closed-off front grille paired with a star-ring full-width light bar gives it strong visual recognition. Thanks to its body dimensions, the front fascia also looks particularly imposing. In addition, the pure electric variant will be equipped with a front trunk, further enhancing storage capacity.
In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 5265mm in length, 1999mm in width, and 1800mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3115mm.
From the side, the XPeng GX adopts a full-width character line that stretches from the front light assembly all the way to the taillights. Combined with multi-spoke wheels, hidden door handles, and a floating roof design, it delivers an elegant and refined appearance. The relatively flat roofline also ensures generous interior passenger space. At the rear, it also features a full-width taillight assembly, creating visual harmony with the front end. Five exterior color options will be provided.
Interior
The cabin features a wraparound cockpit design, accented with chrome trim in multiple areas to enhance a premium feel. The vehicle is also equipped with a two-spoke multifunctional steer-by-wire steering wheel (supporting 135mm electric adjustment and intelligent welcome/exit for the steering wheel and seats), paired with a 17.3-inch 3K floating central control screen and starry-ribbon ambient lighting, in line with mainstream specifications of new energy vehicles today.
In addition, the model is fitted with a floating center console with an intelligent lifting wireless charging panel and hidden lifting cup holders. It also comes with 33 Lingjing AI Sound Max speakers, supporting a 7.1.6.8 immersive panoramic sound system, including 8 headrest speakers. Three interior color schemes are available.
Rear Cabin Experience
The XPeng GX is equipped with a second-row flip-down entertainment screen, a left-side folding table, and a right-side magnetic expansion dock, greatly improving the experience for rear passengers.
In terms of seat configuration:
The front seats support 16-point massage, 16-way electric adjustment, 3-level ventilation, heating and leg rest heating.
A zero-gravity "queen co-pilot" seat will be provided (Nappa leather, one-button zero-gravity reclining), along with seat-integrated seatbelts and cushion airbags.
The second row features a zero-gravity seat on the right and an aviation-style comfort seat on the left, plus electric armrests, 16-point massage, up to 16-way electric adjustment, 3-level ventilation, heating and leg rest heating.
Powertrain
The extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5T range-extender system, with a maximum engine power of 110 kW. Its front and rear dual motors deliver maximum power of 160 kW and 210 kW respectively, with a top speed of 200 km/h and a pure electric range of 320 km.
The pure electric version also uses dual motors, with front and rear maximum power of 160 kW and 270 kW respectively, a top speed of 200 km/h, and CLTC ranges of 635 km, 665 km, 720 km and 750 km depending on the variant.

In terms of market positioning, the XPeng GX targets a clear customer group, directly competing in the 300,000–400,000 RMB flagship SUV segment while establishing a competitive edge through its pricing. In terms of dimensions, although classified as a midsize-to-large SUV, it clearly outperforms models such as the AITO M7 and Li L8, and even approaches full-size flagship SUVs including the AITO M8, NIO ES8 and Leapmotor L90.
Overall, the launch of the XPeng GX not only fills XPeng’s gap in the full-size six-seater flagship SUV market, but also creates a differentiated competitive strategy. Its dual powertrain layout eliminates range anxiety; steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering address the handling drawbacks of large vehicles; full-domain AI intelligent driving delivers convenient and safe driving; and the spacious six-seat layout meets diverse usage scenarios. Coupled with its competitive pre-sale price, the model is expected to become a strong candidate for many family buyers.
Editor’s Comments
The XPeng GX is a key product embodying XPeng’s Physical AI strategy. It integrates five core strengths: the SEPA 3.0 platform, dual powertrain options, steer-by-wire technology, full-domain intelligent driving, and a full-size six-seat interior. With its highly competitive pre-sale price, it has become a well-rounded contender in the 300,000–400,000 RMB midsize-to-large SUV segment.
Going forward, its launch will not only enrich XPeng’s product portfolio but also demonstrate its technological prowess in smart electric vehicles. Whether it will become XPeng’s next volume pillar will depend on subsequent deliveries and market feedback, which we will continue to monitor closely.
