Recently, Toyota released the first preview of the Hilux hydrogen fuel cell model, and the new car plan will be launched in 2028. The new car's powertrain technology comes from the Toyota Mirai model, and the prototype has been unveiled on multiple occasions. Toyota is transplanting hydrogen fuel cell technology from the passenger vehicle segment into pickup truck models to explore the potential of zero-emission power in the light commercial vehicle market. The shape of the front face of the new car is consistent with that of the Hilux currently on sale overseas. Since the trailer is a silhouette shot in reverse light, it is impossible to see other design features of the front face of the new car. As a reference, the current fuel version of Hilux uses an intake grille with ventilation holes, while the pure electric version uses a closed grille design. The current HiLux interior powertrain parameters have not been fully disclosed. Only the Hilux hydrogen fuel cell model WLTP can last up to 400km and have a traction capacity of 2.5 tons. As a reference, the Hilux Pure Electric Edition is equipped with front and rear dual motors, with a maximum torque of 205 Nm and 268 Nm, respectively, a battery capacity of 59.2kWh, and a pure battery life of 380km. The Hilux Fuel Edition is equipped with Toyota's 2.8-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 150 kW and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, matching the 6-speed automatic transmission; the 6-speed manual transmission version has a maximum torque of 420 Nm.
