According to overseas media reports, to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of the truck, Daimler Trucks released a set of future transportation concept designs for 2070, depicting the appearance of commercial vehicles 50 years later. However, the official emphasizes that these are only design research and will not be mass produced; the rhythm of the brand's real products is still down-to-earth. From the conceptual point of view, the freight transportation scenario in 2070 will be highly automated: the intercontinental trunk truck will cancel the cabin and achieve completely unmanned operation; the urban logistics will adopt a modular cabin, and the vehicle can switch the cargo and manpower functions as required; the vehicle body will adopt an extreme streamline model, all of which will achieve zero carbon emissions. However, 2070 is still very far away, and the actual landing path of Daimler Trucks is very clear. The power level adopts a two-wire parallel strategy of battery electric + hydrogen fuel. Among them, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 has achieved mass production, and the actual cumulative operating mileage of customers has exceeded 160 million kilometers, mainly focusing on medium- and long-distance pure electric freight. At the same time, NextGenH2 hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks are still in the R&D stage and are scheduled to be delivered in small batches by the end of 2026. In the field of autonomous driving, Daimler does not pursue one-step unmanned driving for all scenarios, preferentially landing the Hub ‑ to ‑ Hub model: first, the first mile of transportation from the origin to the high-speed transfer hub is completed by a human driver; then the L4 level autonomous heavy truck takes over the vehicle and completes fully automatic long-distance driving on the highway trunk; after arriving at the destination hub, the human driver completes the terminal delivery. This L4 autonomous truck solution is planned to be commercially available in the United States by 2027. (Compiler/Car House Li Na).
