At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the new Volvo XC60 was unveiled with a physical presence. The new model has undergone enhancements in both its exterior and interior design, with an increased electric range for its plug-in hybrid variant. This marks the third generation of the XC60 model. Visually, the new Volvo XC60 features a refreshed front grille, now in a blacked-out style. The iconic Thor's Hammer LED headlights have been redesigned for a deeper, more sophisticated look. The daytime running light lines have been simplified, and the overall front profile is now flatter. The front bumper has also been updated, giving the overall look a stronger feel. In terms of dimensions, the European version of the XC60 measures 4708/1902/1655 (1651) mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2865 mm. The rear section has also been refreshed, with the tailgate, LED taillights, and rear bumper redesigned to emphasize horizontal lines and widen the rear, enhancing the sense of stability. The interior design has seen minimal changes, with enhancements concentrated in the detail aspects. The instrument panel and door panels have been optimized, and new wood trim has been added. The seats are available in a new leather trim in a light green color with perforated Nappa leather, and the cabin atmosphere lighting has been upgraded accordingly. The center touchscreen is 11.2 inches in size, featuring the latest UX infotainment system from Volvo. The integration of the screen with the surrounding trim has been improved. The voice assistant has been upgraded to Google Gemini, enabling natural language interaction and supporting route planning, point-of-interest searches, and handling of driving-related messages. The new XC60 is equipped with Volvo's latest generation of active safety systems. When the system detects potential collision risks, it responds in real-time, capable of automatically steering to avoid a collision or initiating automatic emergency braking (AEB) to mitigate the impact. For the plug-in hybrid models, the rear-mounted motor is standardized, with a maximum power output of 130kW and a peak torque of 309 N·m. The XC60 offers two plug-in hybrid configurations: the T6 variant with a maximum engine power of 132kW, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.7 seconds and a WLTP electric range of up to 200 km; the T8 variant with a maximum engine power of 184kW, delivering a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.8 seconds and a WLTP electric range of approximately 189 km. The battery capacity has been upgraded from the current 18.8 kWh (usable capacity of 4.7 kWh) to 41.2 kWh (usable capacity of 37.9 kWh), doubling the battery capacity. The battery installation location has been moved from the trunk floor to the interior of the vehicle. In the WLTP cycle, the new XC60 can achieve a maximum electric range of up to 200 km. The total range with full tank and full charge is approximately 1240 km. [Image source: Pin Asun ; Text by Qian Chao, AutoHome]
