On October 30, we photographed the all-new Tang, BYD's new mid-size SUV, at a domestic dealership. Dealer sourcing prices for the two rear-drive versions have also surfaced: the 850KM Rear-Drive LiDAR Distinguished Edition at RMB 225,000 and the 850KM Rear-Drive LiDAR Flagship Edition at RMB 240,000. The car will be launched within the year. Outside, the new model draws on the design language of the Tang L, combining a sealed grille with upswept headlights and a full-width chrome strip across the centre, giving the nose a commanding yet modern look. It also adds a front trunk for extra storage. For driver assistance it uses God's Eye B with a single LiDAR, enabling urban navigation assist, highway navigation assist and automatic parking, including traffic-light passage, automatic lane changes, yielding to pedestrians and ETC gantries. At the rear there is a full-width light bar with the BYD logo in the centre, topped by a generously sized spoiler that adds visual depth. Colour options include Mingsha Gold, Qianshan Green, Hanhai Blue and Panshi Grey, plus two-tone bodywork. Dimensions are 5045/1980/1760mm with a 2950mm wheelbase and 1700mm tracks front and rear. Length, wheelbase and height closely match the Tang L, while the body and tracks are slightly narrower. The cabin adopts an entirely new style that the brand says was inspired by the control console of a sci-fi spaceship, with Sand Dune Beige and Amber Brown colour schemes. Details include a one-piece linked screen, with a slim full-LCD strip above the central display showing media, weather, an inclinometer and gear mode. There is wireless phone charging, physical controls, and two steering-wheel designs depending on trim. Notably, the front headrests can be removed so the front seats fold flat with the rear cushion to form a bed, suiting different travel needs. For power, only one single-motor variant has so far been filed, using a TZ205QYD drive motor rated at 300kW with a top speed of 250km/h. According to the 33rd batch of the catalogue of new energy vehicles eligible for purchase-tax exemption, it will offer 88.682kWh and 105.792kWh battery packs, with CLTC electric ranges of 730km, 830km and 850km. It may also adopt the DiSus-A intelligent air body control system, with dual-chamber air springs and intelligent road preview that reacts quickly to changing surfaces. We will keep following the car for more details. (Text by Autohome, Zhou Yi)
