The 2026 Paris International Motor Show officially kicked off on October 12, showcasing the fifth-generation Tucson and the IONIQ 3 models from Hyundai. The former, under the brand's "Art of Steel" design philosophy, featured three powertrain options: gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid, with the XRT and XRT Pro special versions emphasizing off-road attributes. The latter, based on the E-GMP pure electric platform, was designed by the Hyundai European team, manufactured in Turkey, and targeted young families and urban commuters in Europe. Visually, the fifth-generation Tucson was described as "the boldest SUV" according to previous reports. The body lines are sharp and the overall look is close to a concept car. The vehicle features futuristic lighting components, forming a distinctive rugged SUV appearance. The front features a vertical H-Edge daytime running light based on architectural lighting, complemented by a thin horizontal central light strip, effectively widening the vehicle's width perception. From the side, the front and rear wheel arches are designed with more pronounced lines, paired with a more straight roof line, making it look more rugged. The rear end adopts a three-dimensional prism-style tail light, with the lights illuminating to reveal internal textures, enhancing the three-dimensional visual effect. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4700/1905/1685mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2785mm. Compared to its predecessor, the vehicle has increased by 60mm in length, 40mm in width, and 30mm in wheelbase. The rear door maximum opening angle has been improved from 73° to 83°, optimizing the accessibility for getting in and out of the vehicle. In the interior, the vehicle adopts a layered floating center console, featuring a 12.9-inch (high-end models can choose a 17-inch) central screen and a 9.9-inch instrument panel, offering a good level of technological sophistication. Additionally, it will be equipped with the Plesos Connect in-car system, based on Android Automotive. Furthermore, the center console is designed in a layered structure, with a wireless charging plate on the driver's side, a dual cup holder and passenger-side charging port in the lower area, and a gear shift design, freeing up cabin space. In terms of powertrain, the gasoline model features a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 2.0L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, with power outputs ranging from 150-193 horsepower and torque outputs from 191N·m to 264N·m. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch, or 6-speed/8-speed automatic. The hybrid model combines a 1.6L engine with an electric motor, equipped with a 1.49kWh battery and a 6-speed automatic transmission, with a combined power output of 236-245 horsepower and peak torque of 380N·m. The 0-96km/h acceleration time is 8.5 seconds. The plug-in hybrid model has a combined power output of 292 horsepower, with peak torque of 350N·m, standard with a 6-speed transmission and four-wheel drive, achieving a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. The battery capacity is 17.1kWh, providing a pure electric range of up to 81km. The IONIQ 3 adopts Hyundai's new design language, with clean and concise body lines, and a strong sense of form. The signature pixel headlights are paired with four-point LED lights, enhancing the brand's recognizability. The "Aero Hatch" design optimizes aerodynamics, with a target coefficient of drag of 0.263, balancing efficiency and aesthetics. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4155/4170/1800/1505mm in length, width, height, and wheelbase respectively, with a wheelbase of 2680mm. In the interior, the vehicle follows the "Furnished Space" concept, offering 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch touchscreens, and will be equipped with the Plesos Connect in-car system (based on Android Automotive OS). Additionally, it features a standard 5-seater layout with a flat floor, offering a standard cargo volume of 441L. In terms of driving assistance, it features the Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance system, providing functions such as active braking, lane keeping, and blind spot warning. In other configurations, the IONIQ 3 also comes equipped with smartphone digital key version 2.0, a maximum 3.6kW V2L external power supply function, and a BOSE audio system. In terms of powertrain, the IONIQ 3 features a single-motor pure electric powertrain, with a maximum power output of 147 horsepower and torque output of 250N·m. It comes in two versions: standard range and long range, with the standard range version featuring a 42.2kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of approximately 344km, and the long range version featuring a 61kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of approximately 496km.
