Recently, mini launched the mini 1998 GT Special Edition in the US market, the new car is based on the mini Cooper C model, adding orange pull flowers and some JCW sports kits to the body, a move to pay tribute to the classic mini 1275 GT model in 1969. For reference, the mini 1998 GT version will be delivered in the US market this fall, starting at $36,875, equivalent to about RMB 247,000. Looking at the official picture, the new car has a midnight black metallic hue, a 1998 GT decal on the side of the body, and a matching GT logo on the C-pillar and tailgate. The 17-inch JCW Sprint Spoke alloy wheels are also black with an orange logo center cap. In addition, the new car is equipped with some JCW body kits, including aerodynamic bumpers, side skirts and roof spoilers, and the overall visual effect is quite sporty. When you enter the car, you can see that the new car uses JCW sports seats, which are decorated with synthetic leather called Black Vescin and have a vintage knit pattern. Equipment includes JCW steering wheel with heating function, paddle shift and 1998 GT badge. The same logo can be found on the armrest box at the threshold and between the front seats. It is worth mentioning that although the new car is called 1998 GT Special Edition, it has nothing to do with 1998, 1998CC is its engine displacement, all GT models are named after the displacement of the powertrain. So in terms of power, under the hood of the new car is the familiar 2.0T turbocharged engine, like the ordinary Cooper C sold in the United States, with a maximum power of 120 kilowatts and a transmission matching a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Despite the lack of performance upgrades, GT models benefit from exclusive tuning by the John Cooper Works division with more sporty suspension settings and upgraded brakes. The new car will go on sale in the US market next year at an initial MSRP of $36,875, excluding $1,350 destination and handling fees, with pre-orders now open and first deliveries scheduled for this fall.
