Editor's Commentary
In the same segment, the new Seagull's primary competitors are models such as the Geely Xingyuan and the Leapmotor A10. The Wuling Binguo line is another potential rival.
While brands like Geely and Li Auto rely on premium features to capture the market, BYD leans on its Blade battery, fast charging technology, extensive service networks, and higher resale values as its competitive edge.
The success of the first generation Seagull was due to its ability to accurately meet the needs of low-cost urban short-distance transportation. The new Seagull's upgrade represents a significant shift in demand within the entry-level electric vehicle market: users are now looking for spacious interiors, improved chassis quality, stronger power, and advanced driving assistance features.
This upgrade addresses most of the shortcomings of the previous model: the five-seat layout solves the passenger space issue, the independent suspension improves handling, the front trunk expands storage, and fitting LiDAR makes advanced driver assistance accessible to all.
